The Domain Companies, a national leader in sustainable, mixed-use real estate development, has always set its sights beyond the buildings it creates.

More Than Just Buildings

Founded in 2004, The Domain Companies has developed over $2.5 billion in real estate projects across diverse markets. Each property developed is big enough to require dedicated teams, each one working on their own challenges and deadlines.

Managing people across rapidly growing, diverse projects can be difficult, but leadership at Domain knew that their mission required a strong, resilient, and empowered internal team.

That’s why they partnered with Amazing Workplace — to better understand how employees were feeling, identify areas where people were happy, and areas of opportunity to create a happier, more connected, fulfilled workforce.

Listening to Employees and Shaping People Priorities

Taking care of employees isn’t a once-and-done effort — it’s an ongoing priority. Especially when managing across diverse teams and projects, aligning with what people value most helps organizations lead effectively.

In April 2025, The Domain Companies completed its second Employee Happiness Conversation with Amazing Workplace. Over 80% of employees reported being happy or very happy at work. Compared to the previous year, employees reported greater happiness in key areas like Empowerment, Balance, Belonging, and Enjoyment. Knowing what is going well gives leadership clear direction on where to focus their attention in 2025 to create a happier workplace for employees.

Amazing Workplace has allowed us to identify our strengths and weaknesses across our portfolios and between our regions. Gathering this information has been an important starting point for critical conversations that will allow us to continuously improve how we operate on a day-to-day basis.
