Happy Friday!
And Happy New Year from AWP!
2025 was a fantastic year and we are excited to accomplish great things in 2026.
Although we practice this year-round, we start off every year focused on our theme of “Care.” Care simply means:
- Providing what is necessary for others.
- Giving attention to others.
- Being considerate and polite toward others.
- Deciding that someone or something is important and acting that way.
Caring for others is essential to shaping how we feel, grow, and connect with each other. Caring by showing empathy, giving attention, and showing genuine concern for others helps us build trust and strengthens relationships.
In the workplace, care improves employee well-being, fosters positive relationships, and makes people feel valued, important and supported.
How can we show care at work?
- Support employee well-being and work/life balance. Dedicating resources to ensuring employees’ happiness and well-being is a good investment that will always provide a return. Make time for the one-on-one meetings, the check in conversations, and the small expressions of care that help employees have a happy and successful year.
- Recognize and appreciate. As a new year starts, many of us are focused on new goals for productivity or financial success. It’s good to remember to recognize employee and team accomplishments and to appreciate by saying “Thank you” or “I am grateful for your help.”
- Listen and communicate openly. Staying in tune with feedback from employees can help us refine our new year’s plans and goals. Keeping employees informed about what’s happening now and what is planned ensures that they have correct expectations.

Amazing Insights
Want to be happy? Be grateful.
Does caring only benefit the person being cared for? Surprisingly, the answer is no. A study from the University of Pittsburgh indicates that both the caregiver and the cared-for person benefit. Those who provide care are happier, experience less stress, and feel an increased sense of social connection within a group. That’s how care creates happiness for everyone.
