Happy Friday!
At Amazing Workplace, June is the month of “Do It Right.”
Doing it right isn’t the same as just being thorough or working hard. Instead, it is a process for making us more effective at work. Doing it right means:
- Understanding exactly what needs to be done,
- planning all the individual tasks that are required, and
- following through to complete all the tasks.
We all have a lot on our plates, and we may feel like we don’t have enough time to get everything done. It can be tempting to take shortcuts, rush to get something done quickly, or guess what we need to do if we are unsure. This can lead to errors and rework.
Imagine completing a task, thinking you saved time and energy, only to find out that the finished product was incorrect or not what was wanted. You’ll have to re-do the task again to make it right.
When we do things right the first time, we won’t have to do them a second time. That saves time in the long run. It also saves resources (think time and money) that would have been used to correct mistakes made during the first attempt. Doing a task right the first time ensures accuracy, completeness, and integrity in your work.
Our very best,

Process Matters
“Do it right” isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s an widely practiced by top organizations across many industries. For example…
- RFT (Right First Time) is used in manufacturing and focuses on performing tasks correctly the first time to prevent rework, inspections, and corrections.
- Like RFT, DRIFT (Do It Right The First Time) is used in multiple industries including manufacturing and healthcare.
