Happy Friday!

It’s the beginning Q3 and we are busy living our theme for July – Creating the Future.

At Amazing Workplace, we work to create a future that’s, well, full of amazing workplaces! We help build and maintain workplaces where people are happy, work is meaningful, and everyone feels like they belong right where they are. That is our vision.

We know our vision is achievable, but it won’t happen if we passively wait and hope for it. We have to be forward-thinking, focused, and productive to make it happen. We envision our goals, plan the path we need to take, and work hard.

Along the way, not everything we do works the first time. That’s okay. We see our mistakes as growth opportunities and we’re always learning new things that will guide our next steps. We know that the actions we take today help prepare us for the future.

Consider the following quote from a famous inventor. The name may ring a bell…

“Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.”

Alexander Graham Bell

Sorry, we couldn’t resist the bell pun!

Alexander Graham Bell revolutionized global communication and developed many other extraordinary inventions. While Bell is most famous for inventing the telephone, he pioneered teaching techniques for deaf students and also invented the audiometer (a device that assessed hearing abilities). He’s also known for inventing the first metal detector and even dabbled in aviation sciences. Talk about Creating the Future!

We’re a little over halfway through 2025 and we encourage everyone to take a few moments today to envision their own future. What do you want to see for yourself, your organization, and your people in the future? It doesn’t have to be 5 or 10 years away; it can be 6 months or even a year. It could even be next month! It’s really up to you. Once you know what you want, set goals, create a plan, and get moving.

Wishing you all the fun and warmth that summertime brings,

Amazing Insights

A vision for the future can be more than just words

A vision statement is a widely used tool across organizations of all kinds. It is a short description of the outcomes or conditions the company wants to create in the future. Some people take it for granted that a vision statement is a useful thing for organizations to establish, while others are probably skeptical whether a vision statement is anything more than empty buzzwords. Perhaps that’s why a recent paper from researchers in Norway explored whether vision statements really matter.

Their conclusion? Yes, vision statements matter, when the organization meaningfully integrates the vision throughout different aspects of the organization. Where that happens, vision drives positive outcomes in employees’ confidence, ability to innovate, and their positive perception of their organization.

Does your organization employ a vision and keep it in sight? If not, maybe it’s time!
